Torvoila
The village of Torvoila is currently (2026) a part of the city of Hämeenlinna and is home to about 150 residents. Formerly a part of the now defunct Hauho municipality Torvoila is located on the shores of Iso Roinevesi -lake ja surrounded by a another village named Miehoila. The village no longer has any services left although a mobile shop vehicle regularly stops there. Between 1940 and 1960 the village housed several popular boarding houses serving summer holiday vacationers but none exists today - however, summer cottages are bountiful.
The village received it's mail stop (named Miehoila) in 1.4.1934 and a post station in 1.6.1937. In 1953 the name was changed to Torvoila and post services were ceased in 1992. Zip code nowadays is 14960.
Below is a regular letter from Torvoila to Tampere (in Pirkanmaa) dated 23.12.1974.
Rimmilä
Rimmilä is surrounded by the oldest known habited areas in the region tracing back to stone age. It's a small village north-east of the Renkajärvi lake and it's oldest still standing buildings are from the 18th century but the village as such has longer roots deep within the Finnish crofter system. Today (2024) the village is home to only a few dozen households. However, the area is hugely popular in the summer time due to it's astounding nature of hundreds of lakes and ponds dotting the pine forests growing on sandy ridges. The village area has hundreds of summer cottages so it's population multiplies during the summer period.
Mail stop was awarded in 1.1.1937 by the name of Rimmi, but quickly changed to Rimmilä in 1.3.1937. Thus the mail stop cancellation of Rimmi is highly sought after as it was in effect for two months only. The village received a post office in 1.11.1951 but it was shut down in 27.4.1991.
The postcard below was sent from Rimmilä to Hämeenlinna 21.11.1944.It's a simple greeting card having a Rimmilä mail stop cancellation and was naturally processed in the nearby city of Hämeenlinna. The postcard was sent - according to these rules - as a printed matter so the attached stamp of 50 pennies is a correct rate.

Lepistö
Lepistö is an extremely small agricultural area south-east of Tammela and south of the beautiful Kuivajärvi lake. The area is mostly contained near a crossroads of three roads (Portaantie, Rahamaantie and Kaukolantie). The area has only a few dozen residents who draw their livelihood from agriculture. Nearby of the area is the tower of Kaukolanharju which offers tremendous views of the area; an area of endless forests dotted by hunreds of lakes and ponds.
The area received it's mail stop in 1.10.1908 and even a post office in 1.10.1949. All postal functions were shut down in 1.6.1985. Nowadays post is handled by the nearby village of Porras. The below postcard was sent from Lepistö to Vaasa in 10.2.1923 and has the mail stop's cancellation. The postcard was further processed in the town of Mustiala north of Tammela.
